This application is for two plots of land, 661-670 Queen Street East, which is currently the home of a Toyota Dealership, and 77-79 East Don Roadway. Together they form a 4 acre L shaped piece of land.
The application calls for a whopping 894 units in four different buildings. One of the buildings will be for rentals. The East Don Roadway parcel will have three towers, with heights 7, 13 and 24 stories, and along Queen the Toyota Dealership will be demolished for a new building with a 4 story base, and a tower that rises up to 13 stories. If approved, these will be the tallest buildings in the area.
Notices sent to nearby residents show that Streetcar Developments are behind this proposal called “Riverside Square”. Streetcar Developments recently purchased the New Broadview Hotel (Jilly’s) and has several other projects on the go nearby including the Carlaw and the Taylor in the Dundas and Carlaw area.
Will these developments positively add to the neighbourhood or will they detract from the unique feeling of riverside? Share your opinions in the comments section!
